We watched him drain three-pointers at the Pit with Eldorado, now we know Cullen Neal can do it wearing a Lobo uniform too.

UNM freshman Cullen Neal made the most of his 1st collegiate start with 14 points in an exhibition game against Jamestown, an NAIA school in North Dakota.

Neal was 4-for-10 shooting, hitting three 3-pointers, and grabbed 7 rebounds in a 94-51 win Wednesday night.

Following the game, head coach Craig Neal was asked if Cullen got the start because he fit the mold of a player who could come in and shoot.

“No, to be honest with you, I met with my staff and he’s earned it," said the first year head coach. "He has been through a lot.  He lost twenty-two pounds, fought back, and has played at a high-level. So, he deserved it and he was the next guy in. He played pretty well tonight and I don’t know what we’ll do, but right now it’s kind of up in the air, but we’ll see what happens. But, I feel comfortable starting any of those guys. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal that we need to decide right now.”

The Lobos open the regular season Saturday night at home against Alabama A&M.
