Families came together to hold a tribute to honor organ donors.

Saturday’s event was called “Gift of a Lifetime.”

The event was held at the University of New Mexico Student Union Building.

Two women talked about their family decision to become organ donors after their father needed a kidney.

They it is just a way to give back to the community and save lives.

"Giving my kidney to my father was...It gave me and my family 12 more years with him. Also, it inspired my brother to give the gift of life,” Sabrina Wero said.

New Mexicans can register to be organ donors and have it identified on their driver’s license.
