Hundreds of Intel employees went in to work Tuesday unsure about their future with the company.

Back in September, KOB Eyewitness News 4 reported Intel started to cut 400 jobs. On Tuesday, the cuts continued and more employees found out if they were going to lose their jobs. But employees aren’t the only ones worried.

On any given day, Seferino’s in Rio Rancho is packed. But on Tuesday, the tables were empty and the mood was different. “This is really a sad story but I know a lot of people are really nervous today,” said Cathy Gutierrez, who owns Seferino’s.

A lot of Gutierrez’s customers could lose their jobs. That’s because Intel is in the process of cutting hundreds of jobs.

KOB learned Gutierrez depends on business from Intel. She even moved her restaurant right next door to the company.

Intel referred to the cut as “re-deploying”, which means those workers are given two months to either apply for another job within the company or look elsewhere. Their spokesperson cited a “shifting market.”
