Missing Fort Bliss soldier found safe

MOGOLLON, N.M. -- A missing Fort Bliss soldier was found safe early Wednesday.

Major Jeremy Thompson had been missing since Monday after he didn't return home from a hunting trip.

New Mexico State Police said a Blackhawk helicopter spotted Thompson near Mogollon, N.M., around 1 a.m.

According to state police Sgt. Emmanuel Gutierrez, Thompson did not suffer any injuries.

The Air Force was the lead agency conducting the search since Thompson is an active duty Army major.

Major Jeremy Thompson was reported missing on Monday.
