Charleston Southern will take on No. 22 New Mexico Sunday night in the Pit The Lobos come off an eight day layover since its 36-point season opening win against Alabama A&M.
New Mexico (1-0) went full speed ahead in the season opener.
Kendall Williams had a perfect shooting night, big men Cameron Bairstow and Alex Kirk each lodged a double-double and Craig Neal executed a deep bench in his first regular season game as the Lobos head coach.
Charleston Southern (2-1), had 19 wins last year in a season that ended in the NIT first round. This season, the Buccaneers have wins against Johnson and Delaware and most recently lost in overtime 80-78 to UNC Wilmington.
After their game at the Pit the Bucs will travel to Baylor for another game against a top-25 opponent.
Guards Saah Nimley and Matt Kennedy lead the Bucs offense. Nimley had 24 points in the win at Delaware but struggled in the loss against UNC Wilmington shooting 25 percent from the field.
Bairstow and Kirk give New Mexico a big low post advantage.
The duo combined for 38 points and 23 rebounds in their opener.
The Lobos will also see more impressive play from Williams. He had 17 points and dished 7 assists in 25 minutes of play against Alabama A&M.
