LOS LUNAS, N.M. -- Federal agents and local law enforcement searched a suspected illegal horse track in Valencia County on Wednesday.

Homeland Security, state police and deputies executed a search warrant at 25 Emilia Lane in Los Lunas after a year-long investigation into illegal gambling at a horse race track on the property.

According to the Valencia County Sheriff's Office, agents observed 200-500 people gathered at the facility twice in a month to attend horse racing events.

"There was an entrance fee that took place once individuals came to this illegal race track and there was also individual bets being placed as well," said Kevin Abar with Homeland Security.

The undercover officers said they also saw alcohol and possibly drugs being sold.

Agents secured arrest warrants for the owners of the property, 56-year-old Anselmo Renova and 54-year-old Susan Renova. Both are charged with commercial gambling.
