FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - Voters in rural areas of northwestern New Mexico's San Juan County have voted to allow restaurants to obtain state licenses to serve beer and wine.

According to unofficial results, voters in Tuesday's special election approved the initiative measure by a vote of 458-311.

The Daily Times reports the 769 ballots cast represents a turnout of just under 2 percent of registered voters in the county's unincorporated areas.
