LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A Las Cruces man has pleaded guilty to murder and other charges for chasing several men and shooting two of them, including one fatally, after his car was vandalized.
The Las Cruces Sun-News reports that 23-year-old Jeremy R. Martinez faces up to 45.5 years in prison after pleading guilty to nine charges in the April 2012 incident.
Martinez was originally charged with first-degree murder but that charge was reduced to second-degree murder under a plea agreement with prosecutors.
Police said the vandalism to Martinez's car stemmed from a dispute or altercation of some kind between Martinez and a friend of 19-year-old Michael Hahn, the man who died from a shot to his neck.
