As it should have been, it was all systems go in New Mexico’s 80-68 win over Grand Canyon University.
In their final game of 2013, the Lobos feasted early and never trailed against the Antelopes.
New Mexico (9-3) was led by freshman Cullen Neal who scored 18 points and dished 7 assists. Kendal Williams posted 15 points with 8 assists.
New Mexico’s big men Alex Kirk and Cameron Bairstow had a combined 28 points and 19 rebounds.
Former Lobo and current Grand Canyon starting guard Demetrius Walker had decent return to the Pit. He finished with 7 points in 28 minutes of play. Daniel Alexander led the Antelopes with 18 points on 7-13 shooting, including four baskets from the 3-point line.
New Mexico shot 52 percent from the field in the game and were 6-12 from 3-point land. Grand Canyon (5-6) was 43 percent from the field.
The Lobos will play again on January 4, 2014 in a home conference opener against Colorado State.
