The 911 calls investigators released Tuesday show fear, but they also reveal the strength of one Berrendo Middle School teacher who was on the phone while trying to help one of the wounded students. The call shows compassion, professionalism and true courage under fire.

Through the entire call, you can tell the teacher just wants the student to be okay.

“I'm sure you've heard about Berrendo Middle School, I have a student, she's been shot with a bullet after the shooting here,” the caller said.

She keeps calm, even in the face of danger.

“I'm in the classroom, I'm trying to be quiet cause I don't know if they're still in the hall,” the caller said.

Her main concern is keeping the student alive, safe and as comfortable as possible.

“Right arm and armpit, she says she's having problems breathing. I called the office but they're dealing with other stuff and I need to have someone help her now,” the caller said.

It’s hard to imagine what’s going through her mind as she talks to the girl, but in her voice you hear comfort, compassion and calm.
