Santa Fe police have ruled the death of a 74-year-old man as a homicide.

Officers found Larry Roybal dead in his home on Don Diego Avenue with his posessions scattered around on Wednesday. Worried family members called police after they hadn't heard from him in two days.

The Associated Press reports Roybal was a part-time retail clerk who lived alone in a three-bedroom home that had belonged to his mother.

According to police, a significant amount of that evidence indicates a person attempted to alter or conceal items at the scene.

The investigation shut down Don Diego for nearly 24 hours.

Anyone with information is asked to call 505-428-3710.
