New Mexico overcame a first half lead by Fresno State to take an 89-78 road win Saturday night.
Fresno State (8-11, 1-5) led New Mexico (13-4, 4-1) 24-20 with over five minutes left in the first half. Before halftime, Cullen Neal ignited a 33-14 run that gave the Lobos their largest lead with 11 minutes in the second half.
Neal shot 6 for 10 in the game. He finished with 17 points.
Cameron Bairstow led New Mexico with 22 points and 8 rebounds.
The Lobos run to start the second half was paired by Bairstow and Alex Kirk (12 pts, 7 rbs).
Tyler Johnson led the Bulldogs with 16 points. Cezar Guerrero was 3 for 9 from long range and finished with 15 points. Fresno State was 22 for 60 (36%) from the field.
A solid 50 percent shooting from 3-point range to start the game gave the Bulldogs the early lead. However, they were held to just 32 percent to end the game.
Kendall Williams finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists for New Mexico.
