Man charged in murder of missing Moriarty woman

MORIARTY, N.M. -- A 41-year-old man has been charged in the death of a Moriarty woman who was reported missing last week.

According to New Mexico State Police, officers found 47-year-old Tammie Cessna's body at a Moriarty motel on Saturday, just four days after she was reported missing. Police said she suffered traumatic injury to her body.

Early Monday, authorities arrested Mark Chavez on a charge of murder. He was booked into the Torrance County Detention Center without incident.

Bond will be set at his first court appearance.
