A Santa Fe man was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly threatening a student with a gun.

Santa Fe Police say 76-year-old Allan Wheeler threatened a 17-year-old student with a gun.

The student told police he was driving to school erratically when Wheeler began to follow him.

The student went on to say Wheeler began yelling obscenities at him.

When the student arrived at Santa Fe Prep, Wheeler allegedly demanded his driver's license and registration.

The student refused, and at that point, according to the student, Wheeler pulled out a gun.

A school maintenance worker intervened, and police were called.

Wheeler is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and child abuse.

A gun has not been located, but police believe Wheeler stashed the gun at his home.
