A K-9 unit helped end a four-hour SWAT standoff in southeast Albuquerque early Friday.

Police said officers were trying to serve a warrant at a home near Central and Juan Tabo on Thursday night, but the suspect, Michael Lopez, barricaded himself inside. A SWAT team was called to the scene around 9 p.m.

After several hours of negotiations, a police canine was sent into the home to apprehend Lopez around 1 a.m.

Police officials said Lopez suffered minor injuries and was treated at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital. He has been booked on unspecified felony warrants.
