The signs are all over Mancos.
"No water, no business..."
And Mancos business owners are not happy.
"It's terrible," said Michael Trejo, Part owner of The Columbine Bar.
Mancos, Colorado has been without water since Saturday due to a pump failing at the water treatment plant. Then the backup pump failed too.
“All the restaurants are closed, anybody that had to have water," Trejo said.
It's the slow part of the week for The Columbine Bar anyway according to Trejo.
“Importing ice, somebody's got a well. We can run up a pump, we'd be trying to figure out something if it was Friday night," Trejo said.
It's not just businesses affected in Mancos, it's the residents filling up at the water tank in front of Town Hall that are making changes in their everyday life.
"The shower part, that’s frustrating," lamented Andrew Riddle, a three year Mancos resident.
Riddle says it’s not too much of an inconvenience.
"Our kitchen and stuff like that is still running, we are still washing dishes, it’s just different, you know, you don’t have running water so you have tubs. It works out pretty good," Riddle said.
As the town works to restore water, residents are thankful for drinking water and porta-potties provided by the town and remain up-beat.
“It could be worse,” said one man.
KOB Eyewitness News 4 has received late word that the water is back on in Mancos. A temporary replacement pump has been installed while the town awaits a new pump from California. Residents are under a boil advisory for the next few days.
