Albuquerque police have located a pedicab that had gone missing.

Mike Whitney, Old Town Albuquerque’s long-time pedicab tour guide, has been pedaling his trade for 16 years on Old Town Plaza. It all depends on his massive four wheel bike – a $5,000 bike that hauls up to three passengers around Old Town for an hour-long tour at $20 a pop. This morning Whitney walked out of his Old Town apartment to saddle up and saw that his bike was missing from the carport.

“It just shocked the daylights out of me,” Whitney said. “ I mean it just made me sick, because that’s my livelihood, that’s my only source of income.”

“It’s day by day with what income he makes off that bike with the tours,” said Whitney’s friend Patrick Romero. “ I called him this morning. First thing he said was – they stole my bike!”

Late Monday afternoon, police located the pedicab in northeast Albuquerque thanks to a call from someone who spotted the vehicle near Menaul and Eubank.

Police have a suspect in custody.
