The New Mexico State Aggies lost a 73-69 overtime heartbreaker to the San Diego State Aztecs late Thursday night.

SDSU advances to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

The Aggies only scored 20 first half points but overcame a five point deficit with under a minute to go in regulation.

A late SDSU turnover gave the Aggies the ball with 15.6 seconds left and Kevin Aronis' late three tied the score at 60 to send the game to overtime.

However, the Aggies could not match the Aztecs offensive attack in the extra period.

The Aggies cut the Aztec lead to two with 8.2 seconds remaining in overtime, but SDSU's late free throws doomed NMSU.

Five Aggies finished in double figures.

Aronis hit four 3-pointers for NMSU.

Despite the loss, the Aggies completed a very successful 2013-14 season.

NMSU won its third straight WAC tournament title and Daniel Mullings became the first WAC player of the year in school history.
