SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Bipartisan commissions will hold public meetings in Santa Fe and Lovington in June to recommend candidates to Gov. Susana Martinez for possible appointment to new judgeships.
Separate judicial nominating commissions will interview applicants for district court judgeships the Legislature and governor approved earlier this year.
A meeting is scheduled June 6 at the Lea County Courthouse in Lovington on a judgeship in the 5th Judicial District. Lawyers have until May 27 to apply to be considered.
A commission is to meet June 19 in Santa Fe to consider applicants for a 1st District judgeship. Applications are due by June 10.
Commission schedules haven't been announced yet for new judgeships in the 2nd District of Bernalillo County and the 13th District in Sandoval County.
