The moon turned red over New Mexico early Tuesday during a total lunar eclipse.
The rare celestial event takes place when the Earth's shadow obscures the Moon.
People in North and South America and Australia were among those who could see the eclipse.
This is the first lunar eclipse of 2014. There will be another lunar eclipse in October.
