SANTA FE -- Will Old Man Gloom burn on the Friday before Labor Day once again?

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, the city is reviewing a plan by the Kiwanis Club to move the burning of Zozobra this year to Aug. 29. The annual Fiesta, however, would still take place the week after Labor Day.

Zozobra's event chairman, Ray Sandoval, told the New Mexican that moving the ritual to Friday would attract more people and avoid a ticket price increase.

Last year, the price of admission was lowered from $20 to $10 amid complaints.

Also, according to the official Zozobra Facebook page, a phone survey of Santa Fe residents found that a majority favored scheduling the event on a Friday night over a Thursday night.

Zozobra is stuffed with worries and troubles submitted by Santa Fe residents and people around the world and then burned to the ground at Fort Marcy Park every year.
