SANTA FE – Santa Fe police say a bicyclist hit and killed by a Rail Runner train last Saturday may have run a red light shortly before the crash.

According to police, surveillance video captured by the Rail Runner shows 60-year-old Suzanne LeBeau was heading west on Zia Road and crossing St. Francis on the southbound side of the intersection.

The light appears to turn green as LeBeau neared the middle of the intersection. She avoids getting hit by vehicles before riding into the tracks. The Rail Runner conductor blows his horn before she is hit by the southbound train.

Investigators will continue to review the video and additional pieces of evidence as the case develops.

All lights, arms, horns and other safety equipment for both the Rail Runner and intersection were working properly, according to police.

While LeBeau was wearing a helmet, officers did not find evidence that she was wearing headphones.
