More than one hundred prom dresses were donated by KOB viewers at this past weekend's "Pin Ups and Prom Dresses" event in southeast Albuquerque.
Last week, KOB introduced you to Sarah Florez and Francesca Hone – two Albuquerque parents who didn't want girls to miss out on prom because of the price of a dress.
So this past Saturday they hosted a dress event called "Pin Ups and Prom Dresses." The response, Florez said, was amazing.
"It was just really nice to hear all their like touching little stories and why they came out and so it was nice that every time they handed me a dress I got a story," said Florez.
Like one teenager, who already went to prom, donated her dress so another girl could go, or a mom who donated a dress that was once donated to her daughter – her way of paying it forward.
"A lot of mothers wanting to give back, trying to find a way to give back and they wish that they, this could have happened to them or when their daughter needed one," added Florez.
The donations, Florez said, didn't stop at dresses. People also donated shoes, shawls and purses.
Helping – that's what Sarah said it's all about.
