The Santa Fe City Council on Wednesday unanimously approved new restrictions for street performers.

According to KOB's media partners at the Santa Fe New Mexican, performers will soon be required to get a permit, declare what kind of performance they are doing, keep their sound down and change location every two hours.

Performers could face fines of up to $500 for violating the ordinance.

The changes take effect May 12.
