Albuquerque Police are cracking down on property crime in the city.  They have arrested six of the seven people who they say are the top offenders.

Those men have all been arrested repeatedly for property crimes, from home burglaries to shoplifting and car theft.  APD Commander Harold Medina took over the property crime division last week.  He says they'll be working more with the media and the public to catch suspected burglars.

APD says one of their top offenders is Kyle Avery.  Our Danielle Todesco has covered a story about him before.  Last October, we spoke with a woman who said Avery broke into her home and stole priceless memories of her deceased daughter.

"Hopefully he stays in jail so we don't have to worry so much about him anymore," victim Janice Dudley said.

Commander Medina gave some advice to prevent your home from being hit.  He said thieves typically hit on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. when people are at work.  Medina also said if someone knocks on your door, make sure they know you are home, even if you don't answer the door.

Here is the list of all seven top property crime offenders, according to APD:

Kyle Avery

Dennis Karty, Jr.

Harvey Saavedra

Preston Cuellar

Shea Cuellar

Joshua Vigil

Zachary Fogler
