Two young children are out of a disgusting living situation thanks to a courageous New Mexican.

Someone tipped off Albuquerque police that a 10-year-old boy was home alone with a one-year-old. When officers arrived at the home on 2nd Street NW Saturday, they realized the situation was much worse.

Police say they found rotten food all around the house with maggots along with a plugged in microwave sitting in stale water. Investigators said people living there were using a bucket to use the bathroom.

Police arrested Teresa Martinez, Evelyn Vasquez, and Angelic Vasquez. They're all facing child abuse, abandonment and conspiracy charges.
