UNM Hospital welcomed a different, cuddlier kind of patient Monday.

Kids got to bring their favorite stuffed animal to the "Teddy Bear Hospital" for medical treatment.

There was an emergency room, a mini-surgery room, a "cat scanner," and even a design-your-own Band-Aid workshop.

Dean Jacoby's son had expressed interest in working in health care, so he thought this would be great.

"We thought the chance to have him here at a hospital and see all the things doctors do, and nurses, and everyone else in the health care field would be helpful to him, to feel comfortable with those kinds of folks."

Dean's son, however, had other interests.

"I want to be an inventor of toys!" Leur Jacoby said.

Leur said his favorite part of the day was the candy.
