With the primary election in the rear-view mirror both Gov. Susana Martinez and Democratic candidate Gary King hit the campaign trail.
King started the day with most of the candidates he beat in Tuesday’s primary election. It was a peaceful gathering among the candidates at a news conference in Albuquerque.
King was immediately faced with the question, “How do you achieve unity with a party chairman, lawyer Sam Bregman who once called you the worst attorney general in New Mexico history?”
“We recognize as lawyers, that those are indeed things that are done in battle or said in battle,” answered King.
Meanwhile, Republican Martinez ventured into democratic territory, first Las Vegas, then Espanola at a senior stroke victim center.
Democrats have a big advantage over republicans in registered voters but Martinez is a powerful incumbent who proved four years ago that she can win over significant numbers of independent and democratic voters.
