Crews finally fixed a giant mess in Albuquerque's North Valley on Thursday after a vehicle struck a fire hydrant, causing a major leak.
On Wednesday afternoon, the vehicle hit the fire hydrant outside the Flying Star on Rio Grande. The entire strip mall was closed due to the leak.
Around 4:30 a.m., the water authority shut water off in the area so crews could repair the broken hydrant. By noon, the water was back on and the leak was fixed.
Several homes went without water for nearly 14 hours. Some garages were flooded by the high water levels.
