When you get past 100 years old, you deserve to party, and you'd better believe Marie Benally and Ellen Garland are celebrating today. Benally just turned 103, and Garland, 107 years old.

“She is just a sweet heart and she just sits there and she is so teeny tiny,” said Amy Good, of Garland.

Good is the activities director at Life Care Center in Farmington, where both centenarians live.

Good says they are near and dear to her heart. “Marie is inspirational, she propels herself still and she loves to give hugs.”

While Benally speaks good English, it’s a little easier to communicate in Navajo.

Through an interpreter she said that the secret to a long life is plenty of exercise, and devotion to her faith.

“and prayer,” added Good, “oh God is amazing, God is amazing.”

Benally told said doesn’t like being old, it's hard!

But she has learned a lot from those who have gone before her and her kids and grandkids keep her young.

As for things that she wishes she still could do?

Well she doesn’t want to talk about that.

For today, cake and ice cream, some music and wishes for more birthdays to come.
