Bicyclist killed in collision with Rail Runner

Santa Fe Police are investigating a fatal collision between a bicyclist and the Rail Runner train.

Police say the collision took place just before 11:30 a.m. on St. Michaels Drive west of Calle Lorca. The man was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The train was headed northbound as the cyclist traveled westbound on the north side of the sidewalk on St. Michaels Drive. Police said the man was struck as he crossed the tracks and the train crossed the sidewalk.

Police say the arms, bells and signals for the Rail Runner train were all operational at the time of the accident.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call the police at (505)-670-7202.
