An account has been set up for donations for those affected by the Assayii Lake Fire through Wells Fargo Bank. People can go into any Wells Fargo branch and ask to donate to the Assayii Lake Fire Relief Fund in care of the Navajo United Way.

People are still encouraged to donate directly to the different shelters set up for the residents displaced by the fire.

The Navajo Air Transportation is seeking donations to help the firefighters battling the Assayii Lake Fire.

Donations such as drinking water, fruits and snacks can be dropped off at the Navajo Air Transportation in Window Rock, Arizona, located at the Window Rock Airport

Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please call (928)-871-6466 for any questions about donations.

The Navajo Nation is also collecting items for families who were forced to evacuate due to the fire. Items needed for the donation drive include hand sanitizer, baby wipes, vinyl gloves, hand soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, food, and water. Please check the expiration date on non-perishable food items before donating.

Donations are accepted at command posts at the Crystal, Naschitti, Sheep Springs and Newcomb chapters. They are also accepted at the shelter locations for evacuees:

Tohatchi High School Gym, Contact John Brooks 505-290-1628

Newcomb School - Contact Cathy Smiley 505-368-5150 or 505-608-0449

The Southwest Incident Management Team emphasized that no cash donations have been solicited from the public, including businesses and organizations. Instead, all monetary donations should go to American Red Cross at (505)-265-8514.

The Red Cross is providing supplies to the shelters. Supplies were delivered last night to shelters at Newcomb High School, Tohatchi and Naschitte. These are not Red Cross Shelters, but run by the Navajo Nation.
