Albuquerque police arrested a suspect who fled from officers Thursday evening.
Officers spotted a stolen black Chevrolet Avalanche in the area of Central and Western Skies SE. Assisting officers attempted to stop the vehicle at Western Skies and Hanosh Court SE.
Police say the SUV was stolen from a man he had allegedly kidnapped the day before.
The driver was identified as Brandon Baker, 23. Baker intentionally rammed into two patrol cars. APD said one officer obtained injuries on her arm, hand and head. The officer of the other patrol car was uninjured.
Baker then drove away, losing the front right tire. He continued to head east through the neighborhood. According to Police, Baker rammed the SUV through a large gate on private property, and intentionally struck two other patrol cars. He then attempted to drive off of a steep cliff, high centering the SUV.
Police say, Baker fled the vehicle and took a running jump off of the cliff landing approximately 20 feet below.
APD was coordinating with Bernalillo County Deputies and called out the foot pursuit. Officers and deputies were able to catch Baker and placed him into custody.
Baker was booked on charges of aggravated battery on a police officer, aggravated eluding and receiving and transferring of a stolen motor vehicle.
The injured officer was evaluated at a local hospital, treated and released. Several other officers received minor cuts and bruises.
