ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The Albuquerque Fire Department says the agency received about 1,233 calls related to illegal fireworks activities on the Fourth of July.
That led to 17 citations being issued. While that's 10 more citations issued than in 2013, last year the department received 1,371 complaint calls.
Albuquerque Fire Chief David Downey says the agency is pleased that the overall report of illegal fireworks decreased from last year.
He says that with the help of vigilant city residents, the department did not receive reports of any major fires.
