More than a month after officials said they would fix it up, a Farmington cemetery continues to lie in disrepair. The lack of change has driven dozens of residents to demand answers.

“It’s upsetting,” shouts one woman from the throng gathered in the southern portion of the cemetery.

They are beside themselves.

“I'm just frustrated cause it looks so bad,” Judy Miller lamented.

Many friends and family of those interred at Memory Gardens, on Farmington’s East side were promised improvement by Memorial Day.

“The grass is dead,” said Miller.

Instead, it appears to have gotten worse.

Miller gestured at her feet, “All of the graves just look like dirt basically.”

Frustration coupled with pain about the way the cemetery looks.

This week its owners sent a regional manager to address an angry crowd.

“In a perfect world we wouldn't have had these irrigation problems,” Martinez told KOB Eyewitness News 4 in an interview, “People would be coming and telling us what a great job we do, but that’s not the case.”

Martinez says those irrigation problems are one of many they inherited when Serenity and Company bought the cemetery in 2011.

He says they are trying to make things better, but Improvement has not been fast enough for families with loved ones at Memory Gardens.

“When you come here you should feel comfort, but when you come here, you feel anger and ire because of the conditions,’ said Miller

The families do hope that change will come.

“You know, it’s just really disheartening.”
