It’s one thing for us to tell you how dangerous it is to leave a child in a car when it’s hot outside. It’s another to feel that heat for yourself. KOB’s Jorge Torres volunteered to do just that. To show you the effect it can have on a grownup.
Jorge got in the car at five. Temperatures inside the car are easily above 110 degrees. Jorge stepped in the car around 5:00 p.m.
Jorge attempted to stay in the car as long as possible, to see how much of the heat his body could endure. Jorge was sweating profusely and felt pretty weak. After 46 minutes he had to step out of the car for his own personal safety.
Unfortunately, young children can't get out of cars so easily. with temperatures inside cars sometimes reaching 150 degrees the threat of heat stroke is real, which could lead to unconsciousness and even death.
