Fire crews extinguished a fire at the Albuquerque Metals Recycling plant early Sunday.

The Bernalillo County Fire Department and Albuquerque Fire Department responded to the scene near Rio Bravo and 2nd Street late Saturday. Officials said the fire began outside and spread to the nearby recycling plant.

The fire was out by 3 a.m., but crews stayed on the scene until 6 a.m. as a precaution.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
