ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A driver is behind bars and charged with the deaths of a woman and baby who died after a rollover crash.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department says the vehicle rolled on Coors Boulevard just south of Rio Bravo.
Sgt. Aaron Williamson says Adriana Chavez-Miranda, 30, was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Carlos Rosales-Polanco, 41.
According to Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department, the investigation showed Rosales-Polanco was traveling north on Coors from Gun Club when he struck the median and lost control. The vehicle then went across the southbound lanes of Coors and hit a utility pole. The vehicle rolled into a field on the west side of Coors.
Two children, ages 10 and 18-months, were transported to UNM Hospital in critical condition. The infant later died. The 10-year-old remains at UNMH with life threatening injuries.
Bernalillo County deputies said alcohol and speed appear to be factors in this crash. Rosales-Polanco was booked into MDC for vehicular homicide.
Southbound lanes on Coors Boulevard were closed for several hours between Rio Bravo and Gun Club.
