Caretaker charged with forging elderly man's checks

A caretaker is facing dozens of forgery and fraud charges after police said he ripped off the elderly man he was hired to protect.

According to court documents, Darren Oside forged 18 checks belonging to an 88-year-old man. The victim's losses total nearly $5,000.

A fraud investigator helped police track down Osife and he was arrested on Wednesday. He is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center on 35 counts each of forgery and fraud.
