Tuesday more than 100 Albuquerque neighborhoods joined neighborhoods across the country in celebrating "National Night Out." Vecinos del Bosque has participated for decades; it's like a block party, but it's meant to help neighbors get to know law enforcement.

"They know us more on a personal level and we can give them information as far as the crime trends in their neighborhood so they know what to look for," Bernalillo County deputy Micah Barker said.

It's also meant to help neighbors get to know one another, and to spark bonds that could be developed in the future.

"We're close with the police department and Sheriff's department. They attend every meeting we have, if we have problems, we let em know what's going on…And they come right away," George Montoya said.

Other cities across the state, including Roswell and Farmington, also participated.
