ALBUQUERQUE, NM -- One New Mexico woman turned 88 on Friday. Since the numbers align, 88 on 8-8, she had plans for adventure.
Maureen Wright went up in a hot air balloon ride for her 80th birthday, so this year, she wanted to do something even more thrilling.
She chose to sit up thousands of feet in the air, in the open sky, on something called a "trike." It is described as a motorcycle, mixed with a hanglider.
"Yes, I am excited," Maureen said.
"Whew!" was the sound Maureen made when the trike lifted off the ground at Double Eagle Airport.
Once she was up in the sky, it was a view not many people get to see. The Rio Grande flowing beneath tops of thousands of homes, and a desert that stretches far as the eye can see.
"It was great," Maureen said, as she touched down. "It was a little dramatic on the turns. What I loved was the bosque and the river. We saw ducks on the river."
Maureen says her secret to staying healthy and happy at her age, is staying close with the ones she loves, who helped her created a wonderful memory on her 88th birthday.
