(WAVE)  A New York native is getting a lot of attention by attempting to sing "The Star Spangled Banner" in all 50 states.

Janine Stang loved singing the national anthem throughout high school and college because of the feeling of solidarity it creates for 90 seconds as it seems an entire crowd is focused on the men and women serving our country.

When she realized the anthem is turning 200 in September she decided to attempt something that no one has ever done before: performing the song in all 50 states.  Since then she's performed in five to six states each month and has almost met her goal.

Stang performed in New Mexico at the Albuquerque Isotope's game on May 7.

Stang's journey ends September 14th at the celebration at Fort McHenry in Baltimore, where the anthem was written.
