ALBUQUERQUE -- Albuquerque police arrested a 43-year-old man Saturday following a three-day investigation into the armed robbery of a 94-year-old man August 13.
Rudy Chavez allegedly entered the home of the 94-year-old victim and threatened him with a handgun. According to police, Chavez drug the victim through the house as he stole items and cash.
According to a police report, Chavez allegedly told the man he had recently been released from prison and couldn't find work.
Chavez then proceeded to shower and shave in front of the man in order to keep "a watchful eye on him", and when the victim tried to call police, Chavez grabbed his arm to stop him from using the phone.
Chavez made off with a television and the victim's car.
After crime scene analysts scoured the scene for fingerprints, they were able to lift several and identify Chavez through his print records.
Chavez is charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, tampering and motor vehicle theft.
His bond has been set at $100,000 cash only.
