A motorcycle rider died Monday night after being thrown from his motorcycle and suffering severe head trauma, according to Albuquerque police.

The driver was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Police say he was driving east on Tower when his motorcycle hit the raised curb at 4400 Tower SW.

The driver's identity has not been released pending identification and notification of his next of kin.

Westbound Tower from Bridge has reopened after being closed for just over an hour.
