A judge heard bombshell testimony Tuesday in the probable cause hearing for Amy Herrera.
Herrera is the Albuquerque woman facing murder charges in the death of her Air Force husband two years ago. Stephanie Taylor, one of Herrera's former friends, took the stand Tuesday.
She said Herrera admitted to killing her husband, Marc Herrera, during a party in 2012.
Taylor talked about the night she and her husband had Herrera over for dinner a few months after Marc Herrera's death.
"We were just eating dinner, and out of the clear blue, she said she needed to tell us some stuff that was eventually going to come out anyway," said Taylor.
When the prosecutor asked what Herrera told her, Taylor responded, "That she killed Marc."
Taylor said Herrera told her she killed her husband but didn't remember if the gun was in her hand.
In July 2012, the Air Force major was found dead from a gunshot wound in the couple's closet.
It happened while they were hosting a party for foreign exchange students who lived with them.
At first, Herrera claimed her husband committed suicide. Now her attorney is arguing it was self-defense.
It'll be up to a judge to decide it there's enough evidence for the case to go to trial.
Herrera has avoided trial twice in the past because the indictments were dismissed.
