It's been a year since Dona Ana County started issuing same-sex marriage licenses, kicking off a movement across the state as other counties followed suit.

Tonight, a small group of people gathered at Morningside Park in Albuquerque to celebrate the anniversary.

In the last year, 3600 same-sex couples have married in Bernalillo, Santa Fe and Dona Ana Counties.

"It's very exciting," said Reverend Judith Maynard. "Since they passed same-sex marriage in Bernalillo County, I performed more than 200 weddings for same-sex couples. Many of them are traveling in from out of state."

Bernalillo and Santa Fe Counties have issued nearly 1300 licenses to out-of-state couples.
