An Albuquerque man was bitten by his uncle's dog in arguably the worst place a man could get bitten.

KOB Eyewitness News 4 first told you about the dog that attacked a man's testicles back on August 2.  Hank Caruth says was trying to protect his daughter from the dog.

Caruth says after the attack, he's still "complete."  He was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance that day and has been healing without stitches ever since.

"He lunged at my daughter's face," Caruth said as to how it started that day.  The bull mastiff, owned by Caruth's uncle, heard Caruth raise his voice and attacked his 7-year-old daughter Lacee.

"I grabbed her and picked her up, and turned around to get away from him, you know, and he got me right in the...testicles there," Caruth said.

He says he pushed the dog, ironically named "Stitch", outside, and was then able to see what kind of injury he had.  Caruth says it looked awful.  Paramedics described it that day as a "severe laceration and possible detachment."

"It's been rough.  Due to the fact that it was a dog bite wound, they didn't want to stitch it up really at the hospital.  They thought it would be best to leave it open for infection," Caruth said.  "It is healing good; it's just taking a little bit of time, you know."

But life is slowly getting back to normal.  The family has a new kitten - no dogs for them.  Caruth is going back to work in about a week.

He says he learned his lesson the hard way.

"I mean, I wouldn't have another person's dog around my kids ever again," he said.

Animal Control took the dog that day and has had it ever since.  Caruth's daughter just got a nick on her chin.
