Multiple felony charges for suspects arrested in Saturday armed robbery

ALBUQUERQUE -- Albuquerque police have arrested an identified two men suspected of an armed robbery Saturday near 5th and Menaul.

45-year-old Matt Malone and 32-year-old Mario Rivera allegedly broke into a house with two people inside. Officers arrived before the suspects had left the home.

As they arrived, one of the suspects allegedly shot at police with a shotgun, but police did not return fire, according to APD Lt. J.J. Griego. The suspects fled on foot but were caught by police shortly thereafter.

Police say no one was shot or injured during the incident.

Malone and Rivera are both charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, kidnapping, conspiracy and a host of other charges.

Rivera also had a warrant out for his arrest for violating conditions of his release from prison after serving time for receiving and transferring a stolen vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.

Both suspects are being held without bond for the time being.
