Northeastern NM inmate death investigated as homicide

CLAYTON, N.M. -- Clayton police are investigating a Northeastern New Mexico Detention Facility inmate's death as a homicide on Monday.

Around 5 a.m., officers found inmate Jesus Dominguez unresponsive in his two-man cell and called for medical personnel. He was pronounced dead a short time later, according to the New Mexico Corrections Department.

Other inmates are being questioned at this time. The death will be investigated as a homicide to determine if a crime has been committed, the Corrections Department said in a statement.
