SANTA FE COUNTY -- N.M. 502 near Los Alamos, known locally as "The Hill", was closed in both directions Monday afternoon after a car apparently drove off Anderson Overlook into the canyon below.

Major Ken Johnson of the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office, who is handling the investigation, told KOB the accident involved one vehicle and two people, 30-year-old Zachary Sanchez of Los Alamos and 31-year-old Andres Harvier of Espanola.

Johnson said both were ejected in the crash and had sustained life-threatening injuries.

On Tuesday, authorities said Harvier, the passenger in the vehicle, was listed in critical condition at UNM Hospital. Sanchez is listed in stable condition at Christus St. Vincent.

Johnson said there was no known cause for the accident at this time.
